The days are really getting shorter and it is getting really dark really fast. Winter is coming.
From the newsletter...John and Anna and their family want you all to know just how thankful they are for your support of the CSA. They are very excited that they have been able to grow organic produce for you.
For the produce boxes for next week there should be lettuce, kale, garlic, potatoes, butternut squash, and turnips. Unfortunately, they would have any more sweet potatoes this fall. They lost about all that was in the fields and also the ones that were drying. They think the problem was because it was way to wet in the summer. They tried to find other organic farmers in the area that could provide them to you but it looks like everyone had a bad year.
This pick up will be the last one of the year. John now has all the fields planted in cover crops to prevent erosion and improve the soil over the winter. They are already planning for next year.
If you have any questions or want to know more about the CSA please email Rue (the Englisher that helps with communications and some growing produce) and he can get you the answers.
